After 30 years of silence, filmmaker Mima Pastor embarks on a deeply personal journey to confront her father, who vanished without a trace during her childhood. Her search begins with a forgotten stack of letters – written by her father just before the outbreak of the Balkan War –letters filled with love and dreams of a future that never came to be. As Mima retraces her parents’ footsteps, the journey takes her from Sweden to the remote Serbian village where she spent her early years– a place seemingly frozen in time. But as she delves deeper, she soon realizes that nothing is as simple as it seems.
Through family photographs, archival footage, and newly filmed material, the film weaves a poignant story of war and migration, memory and identity. But at its core, it is a powerful testament to the fragile ties that bind us—ties that can hold us together just as easily as they can tear us apart.
